Unironically, Starks was treated very well at first. But he was always Cody's boy so was always looking to jump over, and the Punk drama sealed it because he became Punk's boy too. Even then, he still was treated fine that one weird Edge promo exchange aside. He still had a tag title run, but some time after that pulled a Miro of refusing storylines, so he just sat at home for the rest of the contract.
