>>17860850>>17861731Oldfag here. Was watching wrestling back then
This was right after the Benoit murder-suicide (and the mini steroid 'scandal' that WWE had not long afterwards)
For those of you who weren't watching around this time.....this time period was the PERFECT once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a literal-who midcarder/jobber in the industry, to secure an interview by a news channel to be broadcasted nationwide
After Benoit freaked out, the media was desperate to interview wrestling 'insiders' who would have anything (especially negative) to say about the industry and about WWE in particular
As a result, you had a bunch of legends, has-been and never-was wrestlers being interviewed by both big and small news channels around this time period:
Regal and Bill Demott (Hugh Morrus) were interviewed on some local FOX news channel
Vince McMahon was on the Today Show
John Cena, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart and Ted DiBiase were interviewed together by Larry King on CNN
Steve Blackman and Marc Mero were interviewed together on CNN Headline News
Grand Master Sexay was interviewed on CNN by Anderson Cooper
Bruno Sammartino, Road Warrior Animal and Billy Graham were interviewed on MSNBC
Kevin Nash, Ultimate Warrior, Chyna, Shawn Stasiak and Mr. Kennedy each had interviews on Fox News. So did Debra, and she used it as an opportunity to shit on Austin
Wrestlers were all over the news back then
