>>17898953That's one of many problems.
AEW lacks basic ground rules to create an internal logic. If you pop right back up after taking a powerbomb off the apron through a table, you should be fired as soon as you get backstage. I'd say follow the Austin rule. Austin is a tough SOB who's still vulnerable enough to create drama in the ring. If you're selling less than Austin and/or doing ridiculous synchronized gymnastics routines mid-match, you're not an industry professional weaving stories in the ring, you're an overgrown kid playing wrestler. And then there needs to be powerlevels based on whether someone is main event level/imminently heading for the main event. If you're Scotty 2 Hotty facing off against Stone Cold Steve Austin, you need to sell everything that he does like you just took a gunshot. That's how stars are created and maintained.
>Undertaker and KaneThe movie monster sit up only worked because these two main event level giants who had semi-supernatural gimmicks and looked like movie monsters were the only ones doing it. When throwing the rules out of the window is the norm, you lose the ability to create superbosses like those two.
But oh no, all of this might mean that the soft-faced flippy midget that no grown man has ever been scared of ever looks less tough than the guy who would make the average guy piss his pants if he started walking over like he was ready to attack, and that's just prejudice.
