Bayley got me back into wrestling big time. I met her in Glasgow in 2015 after the show at the Hydro during their first NXT European tour. Due to my disability and health issues, It was my first ever live wrestling event at the age of 28. It was amazing. Took us ages to get out. we (me and my mum, who was my carer) were among the last to leave and we saw Bayley. She came up to a few of us. Earlier in the night I'd bought my first wrestling merch. 2 Finn Balor tops, an Asuka mask and an "I'm A Hugger" t-shirt. Most of the 20,000 or so crowd had the Bayley shirt on, despite Finn returning to his ICW stomping grounds.
She saw me in my chair (outside after the show, just to avoid confusion) and asked if she could give me a hug. That was lovely of her to ask. I mentioned the Hugger shirt from earlier and that I hadn't even opened it. She said to get it out for her and she would sign it. Said she didn't mind if I sold it. Like hell. Has pride of place in my bedroom, near my bed, as I'm bedbound mostly now, 10 years later.
Short story long, like most of you, I was disappointed with her Jordan Peterson book. I'm a disabled trans lesbian, and I know so many people like him and what they do to our cause. I didn't like it and worried for a while. But Bayley is an ally and a wonderful human. Proven time and again.
From a respectful lesbian perspective, she is indeed "our girl".
Happy pride month.
