>>17940644Here's the thing. Raw has always been super commercial. The shock jock face color commentator from OG Raw got fired for insulting Slim Jims during an ad read ("Slim Jims: When you don't care what part of the cow you're eating.") WCW would do "Commercial consideration was paid for by the following" and then play ads that paid to be on wrestling. ROH famously did medical supply ads with Jay Lethal and the Briscoe Brothers that ran during the SBC years. NJPW and Mexico had ads forever. There is not escaping ads in wrestling history from post-Civil War to current.
That said.
There are somehow MORE ads than that! None of it makes sense! I thought it was already the most commercial of the commercial wrestling imaginable but I've learned the limits of my imagination. The fucking weapons are branded now. Domino's stopped sponsoring AEW over their ad playing over a guy getting cut with a pizza cutter in PIP. What does Fireball do if someone loses an eye to a branded ladder spot gone wrong? It's wrestling and shit goes wrong sometimes. But that's another argument that doesn't need to happen because branded weapons is dumb.
Seriously think old school mentality. When people want to use a weapon, old school bookers would be like "Why is that under there?" Well, now the reason is "they pay the company to get used by us."
I'm high and ranting. There are a fuck ton of ads.
