A modern remake/remaster of it would be based as fuck indeed but probably a nightmare in terms of the IP/licensing etc nowadays.
Plus modern AJPW is dead in the water and could never afford to fund a video game.

Japan stopped making wrestling games in general in the 2010s. AEW Fight Forever was the only Japanese-developed wrestling game in recent memory and it didn't do very well

Pro wrestling in Japan got shit-stomped by MMA and then lost their prime time tv spots by the mid 2000's. The lack of wrestling games reflects the lack of interest in wrestling in general.

There was also the lack of later star power. NJPW in the 2010s had enough prime stars to carry a game but it just wouldn't have been the same as having 4 companies with active megastars in them like in the KOC games
