I've seen people at perfectly healthy weights have worse apnea than obese men with a history of smoking. Not to mention, they'll literally perform tonsillectomies on children who have sleep apnea due to inflammation of their tonsils.
So while you can manage pretty well if you watch your weight, it's something to be weary of. If your partner ever says something about you very loudly snoring or anything like that, you might want to get checked.
