The Golden Greek was clearly incredibly popular and regularly drew gates of around 20,000 people to Madison Square Garden, in professional wrestling this was an unparalleled level of success, and when Londos was not on the card in New York, the territory suffered. After Londos was forced out of New York in a contract dispute, the territory completely crumbled until a certain Vince McMahon Sr. put the territory back on the map. Anywhere Jim Londos went he was drawing money and became the major attraction to filling an arena during the 1930s. In his native Greece, 100,000 fans paid to see him defeat the Russian champion Kola Kowriani, with an additional 50,000 being turned away at the gate. Perhaps the most famous match of Londos' career was against long-time rival Ed Lewis in Chicago, Wrigley Field in which they drew 35,000 fans.
