Somewhat, on 1 hand what you said is true but it really feels like nobody is on his level, unless Swerve and Ospreay turn heel on him with their new EVP position I can't see any good, worthwhile challengers. His last reign was already boring as hell before Punk ever got involved. I feel bad for you bandwagoners and people who've done a 180 on AEW the last month because you're about to see what always happens. Tony never has a follow up plan. He can build a big moment or a great title win but that's it. He has never and can never follow up and make a reign meaningful

He had one awful babyface Dynamite promo where he was in an electric car and wearing a Virginia Is For Lovers t-shirt and then he had a filler defence against Adam Cole and then that was it for his run before Punk showed up. It was a nothing run, genuinely one of the worst in AEW. Zero direction.

Yup. Pretty much how it goes for Tony. The best one I can point to is Toni Storm's last one but that had the story with Mariah lifting it and keeping it on track. Then May won the belt and it was right back to zero direction and another poorly booked title reign. People have great moments becoming champion and then he shifts his focus onto who he wants as champion next

Hangman is probably my favorite current wrestler and I completely checked out during his reign and didn't come back until All In. That Adam Cole feud made me question why I ever liked wrestling in the first place.
