He's not wrong and its been a gripe for a long time amongst wresters now, probably ever since celebrities and outsiders began creeping in. It takes time and money and a spot off the card from someone on the roster. Jelly Roll or whatever the fuck his name is probably is getting a huge payoff for his appearance and his time in compared to someone else and while that someone else is still going to shows and making towns, Jelly Roll's time in wrestling is done after his payoff and publicitiy and then that's it. And its not like celebrity appearances are always the best thing and bring eyes to the product and is good for anything in the long run. There was that one guy who did guest commentary for the Bret Hart vs. 123 Kid match and the shit he was saying nearly ruined what was known now to be a classic. Hell, half the celebrities who showed up during the Guest-GM era were ass. There were exceptions like with The Muppets and Bob Barker but for shit like Jesse Jackson who hated being there, didn't want to participate or do anything and just showed up to promote his shit for childrens literacy and then peace the fuck out with a paycheque helps no one.

The difference is that there are exceptions of course, but a good portion of the stunts and fights and choreography for films will be done by the actor or actress for a few shows, filled in a stunt person for the more complex ones and then these days? Practically can entirely be done in CGI without any involvement from anyone physical on set. Rob has to perform many of his moves in front of a live audience compounded with the risk of being injured, screwing up, hurting his opponent and all while gauging reactions from the crowd and planning accordingly while hitting marks on what emotions he wants the capacity audience to go through and be swept up into all while simply using his body. What Rob does in a single evening would take trained Hollywood stuntment a year to prepare and do. There aren't any actors anymore that would try as hard or endeavour to.

I don't care if his appearance was somewhat realistic by not giving him any real offense, and having him thrown out in less than a minute. I kinda give Logan Paul a pass because he technically is an athlete (even though his boxing matches were probably fixed), plus he's good in the ring, and they work the whole part timer, celebrity status into his gimmick, so it kinda works.

The shit I can't defend is stuff like Travis Scott, or whoever the hell that Zoomer streamer was they had in the Royal Rumble (but even then, it's the Royal Rumble, there are always joke entrants).

AEW marks want to pretend this is a WWE problem as if they didn't just have The CostCo Guys and The Rizzler at All In last week, or Master P a few months ago.

Similar to how the Buss family owns the Lakers, they had no other business interests anymore. It’s not like Steve Ballmer owning the Clippers and happily paying the Luxury Tax and building brand new arenas. It’s the primary source of their income so the product has to be generating money. To do that fans have to at least be interested in what you’re putting out. The Lakers had the appeal of LA and the championships. Vince had the appeal of the #1 company.

WWE is for all intents and purposes an arm of a talent agency now. The purpose is not to entertain fans so they watch and spend money. it’s to push Endeavor backed artists and get them exposure. WWE sold their PPV’s to NBCUniversal and they don’t care about buy-rates. They sold RAW to Netflix they don’t care about ratings. They sold every inch of ring space to advertisers, down to the fucking tables they crash through. The perform privately for the Prince of Saudi Arabia. It exists to make Jellyroll look like a big star. Or Travis Scott. Or Bad Bunny. Whoever it will be two months from now.
You see what the product looks like when you do not have to entertain fans. Same as AEW who also do not exist to make a profit, except it’s more singular and autistic. That exists to entertain Tony.

Yeah, when Vince was still building up the company into becoming the big deal that it was
Nothing wrong with a couple of celeb appearances, but when that's literally the main draw of your biggest show then that's a problem
Besides the first one, WM11 was the only time that a WM main event had a celeb in the actual match who wasn't part of the roster. And unlike WM1 they didn't have dime-drawing Hogan as part of it
The Lawrence Taylor match was the only match on that card that got serious hype and promotion. Vince even put it after the Shawn & Nash match for the WWE title, even though he was pushing both at the time

I agree with him on the most part but the jelly roll and logan stuff is okay because people already don't think of logan as a full fledged wrestler anyway so nobody gets devalues, as long as he is kept away from drew I think everything will be fine. There is some value to get out of celebrity participation but putting them with the main event is retarded, like the shit with travis scott. As long as they are in the mid card I don't think people will care as much.
