Mixed blacks are always more insecure than regular ones because they feel even more outcasted. Hayes thinks that he's being rejected because of his race, but it's because he can't sell himself. Wrestling adheres to people liking more "immediately definable people" they can relate to. Whites like whites, blacks like blacks, mexicans, etc. Mixed can be harder because of that lack of attachment, so they usually need to stand out in a more unique way, but Melo hasn't done that for shit. He's only ever started popping off because Miz was carrying him. Granted, the booking around that was still shit, but I came to like him more because Miz made him appear likable. His PERSONALITY. Not his wannabe black attitude.
>>18388583The real problem is the emphasis on "main event". That shit should be forgotten about entirely. Just book every angle with the same level of importance, whichever has the most numbers goes on last. Sometimes you can switch it out due to flunctuation. But the obsessive idea of "main eventing" just pushes people into a box. They think "What can I do to be more popular" instead of "How can I highlight my strengths?" Wrestling appeal still works based on selling whatever niche you can carve out. If you can't realize that, you won't ever make it. Unless you're a nepobaby like Rock or the boss' toy like Cena and Roman. Exceptions and all that.
