Please the booker when he wants you to do the what you'd initially think as retarded shit, because you are getting the exposure while making connections, kissing ass and only really be mindful about not becoming a one note joke, or a push over in the audience eyes by pitching and making sure you get offense in.
But just being uppity and self-mark for your own image also just gets you a bad rep for being hard to work with so you have to figure out the line between taking a pie in the face, jobbing to losers and what is metaphorically or literally being fucked bareback in the middle of ring. Usually you should stop before you are wrestling a blow up doll at least because while it is entertaining for the some part of the general audience it will come back to haunt your credibility more than jobbing to some twink in a community center ring.
and when you at the top of the card, try to extend your reach and longevity with politicking for longer programs, protecting your image as a big threat because once you loose the spotlight it's harder to get and merch sales % dips. But the tricky part here is remembering to be a team player too and actually knowing when it's time to put a new face over not for that guys benefit but the whole company.
And it could be the bookers bane too, to book you into a top spot because of draw power right now and not what the business looks like 5 years from now like Vince did with Hogan when he hot swapped him for Bret Hart against Yokozuna on the fly. Atleast I hope Hogan tried to convince Vince it wasn't a good idea. Who knows, but we do know he didn't want to work long enough to put Shawn over once so...
