Bret's problem is that he's just so far up his own ass. He believes himself to be this and that and everything else, but he never understood his personality just makes him an unlikeable person, in general. It's nice that he speaks his mind, refreshing really, but he's just an asshole, plain and simple. And not the type of asshole people like because they're witty or funny or clever. Just a run of the mill asshole.
