When was the pinnacle of wrestling? WCW/nWo winning the ratings war, something that everyone still talks about/analyzes/dissects today, except Meltzer, who was talking about New Japan during that time and giving them all his worthless awards, while no one even talks about or remembers it today?

Nobody, or at least very, very few people actually bothered with Meltzer in the West. Guys like Dusty, Undertaker, Ventura and so on all saw him for what he was.
So he latched onto Japanese wrestling because of a language barrier where he thought he'd be welcome.

This might have been in 2000 but there was also just a Thunder where Godlberg does a promo saying wrestlings all fake and the only reason he lost to Nash is because Nash became the booker and wrote himself to beat Goldberg.
