The only chance he would have had from recovering from that would be getting a whole new gimmick and proving he's more than that, but he didn't. Then Tony knew he would leave because he's Cody's friend and stopped booking him. Now as a nepo hire in NXT there's almost no chance he'll ever do anything different or improve. Shawn can lead a horse to water, but he can't make Ricky not stink.
