My theory is that the reason Cardetty never even tried to go to WCW is because he KNEW he’d get absolutely exposed around a bunch of cool modern heels and talkers and look like a total Puto doing his faggy little cartoon old west grave wizard around a bunch of dudes like Steiner and the NWO

Taker's based, but I always judge how good someone was by counting how many promotions they got over in. Taker would not have got over in 96-98 WCW with or without Deadman gimmick. It only works in WWE.
Austin would've got over in WCW if he was exactly like 97-98 Stone Cold without that part of the name.

Taker in WCW would've absolutely flopped in 96-97. No Undertaker gimmick, nWo politics, Sting being the main babyface and a bloated roster with no direction.
It only would've worked if he managed to become the leader of some stable and try to reproduce a hybrid between his Deadman and his biker persona, but there wouldn't be a Vince to polish his character and he doesn't own the rights of the Undertaker name, so he would've been "The XXXXX Mean Mark".
How many people would he have been able to make tune in around those years in detriment of Austin?
Would WCW would've been able to mention that Undertaker and Hogan had a feud in some other company in the past?

Kevin Sullivan is 5'9" and looks like a fat slob that painted his face. Not really a fair comparison. Nobody that is Taker's size, with his ability to look menacing and his surprising agility at his size, should have trouble getting over. If they do, it's the fault of the bookers.

Hell they had their own fake undertaker named tombstone, they had Ron studd, the faces of fear barb and meng, bossman, all kinds of guys bigger and badder than undertaker, including Nash and Giant. And comparing guys like Ron Studd and Tombstone to Undertaker, or calling Taker nothing but a "body guy" is disingenuous.
