Really great pacing here. The initial squaring off and lockups take their time but transition fast to ropes and throws with an exchange of headscissors that doesn't look over-rehearsed.
They don't stop midway through each spot to go to the crowd for an appeal/heat.
Extremely sporadic pin attempts for much of the early part of the match because logically neither man should be worn down enough at that point anyway.
Good psychology and selling of the injured ribs by Eddy especially with his frog splash near the end getting him more than his opponent followed up by the targeted attack by Dean's abominable stretch wherein Eddy has to really struggle for the rope break.
Final finish is a blink-and-you-miss-it reversal pinfall that makes Eddy look ingenious for getting out of a really bad position while not really beating Malenko as spotlessly clean as would ideal that also leaves him strong.
