>>18687748>>18687748For once I agree with Dave on this, calling a half-empty arena a sell out is retarded. Back in 2011 or so, when WWE were regularly tarping off literally half of the arena on the hard cam side, especially for Smackdown which was a glorified house show at the time, they were claiming some shows as sold-out and I called it out back then. There were not any major competitors to WWE back then, TNA was in decline and everybody agreed it was going to shit, so the major division in fans was newer fans who thought current WWE was great and older fans who thought it was shit and that older wrestling was better. I fell into the latter camp and I'd be arguing with people all the time who defended WWE calling these shows a sell-out.
AEW did it as well at Wembley, calling it a sold-out show despite entire sections being tarped off. Not obstructed sections either, just sections they didn't bother opening for sale because there was not adequate demand. OK, technically you've sold out the show since all available tickets are gone, good for you. But we all know what "sold out" implies and why it's bullshit to call it that. Let me rent an arena, put on a show where I fart and burp for 10 minutes then get naked and kill myself, tarp off the entire building save for 5 seats, invite my mom, dad, dog, and two comped hobos from the street and by retard logic I can say I sold out an arena.
