The fall of Kenny Omega needs to be studied. I’ve never in my life as a wrestling fan have seen a guy go from the hottest thing in the business (at the time of his NJPW run G1+Okada series and Bullet Club stuff), the toast of the wrestling world who had Vince out of all people on his knees and digging up old WWE developmental footage of him to beg him to “come home”, and doing that all OUTSIDE of the Vince WWE monopoly, to crashing into the Earth’s crust becoming a nobody in comparison.
This man had it all and pushed the self destruct button on his extremely bright future by signing with AEW considering how terribly he’s been used since day one. In hindsight, he didn’t even have to sign with the WWE, staying with New Japan as the ambassador and face of their western expansion would have treated him WAY better than what he’s gotten in AEW.
I mean if Kenny primarily cared about the Tony Khan money and doesn’t give a squat about legacy then I guess he won. But at this point if anyone remembers his career in the coming years at all fondly it will be over a run he had (as of right now) almost a decade ago.
He had it. He had it and he blew it to sawdust himself with his friends. Then he goes double retarded by re-signing with AEW throwing away what was probably his last window to do anything really special in the twilight stanza of his career. I used to feel about about how Kenny Omega turned out after he left NJPW but at this point he reaps what he sows, he made his own career decisions.
