He does some cool stuff in the ring, but so does everyone in AEW. He is what he is and has been the same thing over and over.
If he was smart, he'd pitch to do something different, but he's probably not creative enough to think it up. And probably not talented enough to pull it off.
In a couple years he'll be 35, and the "so much potential" assessment goes out the window as well.
Tony has gotten so many new wrestlers over the years and they feel fresher to him. Maybe he feels like AEW has so many "real" professionals he can pick from and that it's outgrown the bush leaguers he had to start with.
