Nah I think companies like New Japan and WWE are too conservative. I mean look at AEW and their stellar safety record. Pretty much each wrestler that turned up in AEW who had a history of injuries proceeded to have a successful and healthy career in AEW.

Say what you want about Tony Khan but he was right when he said that AEW has the best safety record of any wrestling company in the world.

It's kinda weird because a lot of the stuff he's doing in AEW is less safe than what he was doing in NJPW.

Saying that - Shibata is a shoot retard who thought it was a good idea to go out dehydrated and shoot headbutt the future ace of NJPW. It's a miracle he only injured himself in the spot and didn't give Okader brain damage.

He didn't decide to go out dehydrated. He wrestled like 30 minutes in a hot ass venue while juicing and lost a considerable amount of body fluid via sweat, and nobody in history has ever stopped to consider 'am I hydrated enough to do this next move?'. In the end, the reality is that he etched his place in history and now can coast taking Tony's money and he can never tarnish that moment because it is its own isolated thing from 'another Shibata' than the one now, and while everyone else kills their aura and mystique he will luckily always have his.
