It really was an underrated and to a certain extent, misunderstood gimmick
He just liked wearing dresses. That was it. It wasn't really some LGBT shit. It had nothing to do with his sexuality, and I don't recall it ever being suggested that he was either gay/bi or trans
He never wore a wig or any noticeable makeup as far as I can remember
He was just a regular-looking, ass-kicking big dude, who preferred to wear dresses
I wish he got more mileage out of the gimmick while he was in WWE

Fun fact: The 'Vito in a dress' storyline was the first time that Orlando Jordan publicly took a half-step out of the closet
The whole storyline started with Orlando telling Nunzio that he was at a nightclub (presumably a gay club) and he saw a guy in drag who he later found out was Vito

That's when the gimmick got flanderized and he started skipping around in the dress during matches for laughs. That's what helped kill the gimmick's initial appeal in my opinion
When he first started he literally played the big serious tough masculine man.....who just so happened to be wearing a dress. He didn't move around or behave in a feminine manner at all, they should have kept it that way

So was this gimmick every explained in any interviews or anything? Like was Vito being punished for having heat back stage or something. I remember when his started using this gimmick and it just came out of left field.
