Things AEW can learn from ECW.
It's no secret ECW did a lot to cover up for what their talent lacked. Well, there ain't no modern wrestler as good as RVD and Sabu, hell there's barely any better than Danny Doring and Chris Chetti these days. So what can be done to keep modern wrestlers from exposing themselves as total hacks who are gay and suck?
>Shorter matches
Most ECW PPV matches were like 8 minutes long. That's plenty of time to get their character across and do some wild shit. Not enough time to get lost. A lot of the AEW PPVs I've seen almost every match, including the pre show matches go at least 15 minutes, this leads to guys falling back on all the smark approved spots, so every match feels the same. Tighten that up, and have the talent focus on what makes them them, and not what their apron spot is going to be and where to put in the boo yay strike exchanges.
>Heavily edited shows, no more live events
There's a reason there's no must see ECW fan cam. ECW was made in the edit. Cut out the botches, cut out the shots of people blading, cut out the fumbled promos. Hell, just book a show with a bunch of run ins and see what match ups pop the crowd and then edit out all the run ins that don't.
>Squash matches are good actually
You have Sammy Guevara or Jungle Boy in the ring being annoying little shits and then have a debuting talent come out and hit one move, pose, hit their finisher and get the win, they are more over than any dream match given away on free TV could ever make them.
>no women's wrestling
If a woman is on screen she is either a stripper or the girlfriend of a wrestler who acts like a stripper.
