To let you know it was inferior to the actual world titles in WWE. Always hated that era of belts and Vince color coding them to their level of importance. The WWECW and Divas titles were silver plated because they meant less than all the other gold plated titles. And of course nothing meant less than the copper plated penny looking tag titles

The belt was essentially made for Mark Henry. It's HUGE.

ECW became a prototype NXT around 2008

They changed it because by that point, the WWE ECW brand had dropped any nostalgia for the original ECW, and the blood and barbed wire design didn't fit the brand identity anymore. They rarely even did Extreme Rules matches, it was just another WWE show.
