I feel he's taunting James every time he says "you keep saying I can do this on my own, I'm so happy to do this together though James", like it's a little rib.
It can come across as "you're the one who's dependent on me James, not the other way around", but that's looking for trouble where there possibly is none.
He did spend a lot of time encouraging James publicly to do more of his own videos though, where the "journalism" is even more evidently biased.
