Bray was also a traumatized adult and most likely a rape victim himself. He acted childlike as a defense mechanism just like Dark Alexa. The Fiend was Bray's monster. Nobody could hurt him when he was the monster and that's why the Fiend no sold everything. The Fiend was impervious to pain and couldn't be penetrated.
All this shit was based on trauma and dissociation. It's not that deep.
