It's rough but it's unfortunately in line with most other big ticket event prices these days. I went to Mania 40 and paid about $500 for each night and was up fairly high. Consider the price hikes in fucking everything since then and that's about par for the course. It sucks. I don't like it. I sure as hell condone it. But it tracks

I really don't understand why ticket prices have exploded everywhere. Did everyone just look at Taylor Swift and think they could get away with those prices? Is it Ticketmaster? Scalpers? Shits gotten insane, not to mention how expensive parking/concessions/merch has gotten.

Honestly? I think this has a real part in it. You couldn't avoid news of how fast those were selling out. Which in a way hey fine. Supply and demand and whatnot. But it also showed just how big of a mark people are willing to be to go to something like that. Especially in the days of tiktok and instagram and social media clout where it's a status thing as well. Ticketmaster has always been money grubbing scumbags on top of it. Prices of everything skyrocketing only gave even more of an excuse for prices to get jacked up. It sucks and it's a bubble I hope bursts asap

Some. Looking at WWE's crowds this unfortunately seems sustainable enough still that they can fill arenas. On one hand it's good that AEW exists as a cheap alternative. On the other if they could get away with it they would be charging the exact same prices

The real change was with the COVID lockdowns. Venues would still hold events but sold significantly less seats because of the 6 ft restrictions, so they sold tickets at higher prices to make up for it. People kept buying it at those prices, so they found out how much people were willing to pay for tickets. Once the restrictions were lifted, they just kept the prices where they were and people kept buying them. Look up how much prices shot up between 2020 and now compared to any other 5 year period. As long as people keep buying, they'll keep selling them at stupid prices.
