It honestly ain't even about the money. There was just so much more goddamn wrestling content that was well organized and easily findable. Unless you were looking for Chris Benoit matches it wouldn't take you more than a minute to find exactly what you wanted. Nowadays we have to pray that the WWE Vault Youtube channel will ever decide to upload a match (Rather than the entire show we used to have)

New technology is always the best at the start when no one knows what they are doing. WWE was scared no one would pay for this so they made it cheap and constantly made new content. As time went on they realized they could raise their prices, put their content on multiple services and not make new shows as much as they did before because people will pay regardless

Back in the WWE Network days, you still needed a cable package to watch Raw and SmackDown. That's still true today. ESPN is soon going to be included in all cable packages for no extra money, so the only things extra you need are Netflix and Peacock, and you probably already had Netflix anyway.

The first version of the WWE network was so much better than everything since. Funny enough, when they switched from the MLB run platform to Endeavor's version, was the most fucked up version.

I always thought the Network was too ahead of the time. It'd fair better if it came out in like 2017-2018 than coming out in 2014. The six month commitment didn't help either.

Same issue happened with Tout, which was Vine-lite. Way too early and then when a better platform came out, they felt scourned and let it die. Rock had to basically force them to get on Twitter with all his cringe shilling. And it's only recently that they decided to throw full events and actively promote the Vault, something they could've easily done a decade ago.

They just suck at timing things. Either too early or way too late.

The only streaming service I actually paid for and felt comfortable in doing so. Soon as it died, I even almost went as far as to get a foreign currency prepaid card and continue to pay for it while using a VPN to keep it when it was still an option in other regions. Biggest fucking ball drop from the WWE in my opinion was getting rid of it.
