>>18916224It comes from the territory days when a referee often wasn't informed of the finish, and always called everything as straight as he could.
Sometimes the finish required foreknowledge but they still worked the ref job like it's a shoot, because that preserves the business.
It's bad enough that the talent behaves like they're phoney. A phoney referee only makes it worse.
The problem today is that referees have those earpieces and continuously get instructions on what to do.
Even being told in the heat of the moment that they have to change the finish can fuck up the count, because the ref just got an order he can't perform because he's already counting and the pinned talent has to kick out hard but needs to be told which can't happen because the ref's distracted by a fat cunt screaming through the earpiece and the count he's having to stop.
That's usually why it goes wrong.
In this instance, Nia was meant to be pinned here. The finish happened as planned, everything went as it should've, but Tiffany was late and it all looked like fucking shit so someone's barking at the ref to stop it but Nia's already pinned as she should be.
It's yet another case of production fucking the in-ring action up by interfering from the truck. And it makes everybody look bad, especially the ref
TL;DR: Production botched it by changing the finish mid-finish.
