You take it way too seriously. A championship title isn't "earned" because it's not a real sport. It's just you filling a character in the story. It's a prop in the story. In Vince's eyes, he probably didn't give a shit who held it first. The Intercontinental Championship and the WWE at the time were also "undisputed" from all the territories, but at the end of the day, who holds what doesn't matter.

Again, as a businessman and owner of the company does not matter who won the belt. Wins/loses don't matter (to a degree). It's all entertainment. All that matters is selling tickets and entertainment. Jericho doesn't sell tickets. Steve Austin and the Rock sell tickets. They don't need the belt to sell tickets.

At the time, it wasn't that big of a deal, because WWE had done a good job burying WCW belts and talent by then.

Part of me thinks.....they must have been planning for HHH to win the Rumble and get the belt at Wrestlemania. The Rock/Hogan was already in the works, so neither of them could win it. Austin as we said didn't need the belt to sell tickets. Wasn't he planning to wrestle Ric Flair or something, and then they had to change plans and go with Scott Hall?
