Punk is a leftist but he also lives on planet Earth. Which means he understands that some stuff about the left is pretty stupid. Mostly about their thoughts related to money and economics. This is why Punk embraces every single capitalist way of living to the point of not seeing anything wrong with accepting Saudi money after speaking bad about them. And good for him. He is looking for himself and his family after all.
So it's natural that Hangman thinks Punk is a phony leftist. In fact, if the right was more accepting of blacks, women, and the alphabet gang, I'm pretty sure Punk would quickly change sides.
