In retrospect, in spite of off the smark bitching and crying, this ended up being the correct decision because it actually ended up making Cody's title win mean something

Realistically it should've been Dwayne vs Roman at 39 to get their coconut slop over with and the next year Cody wins, but it ended up working itself out anyway.

He in fact did not and you could tell he was hoping the fans would be behind him at the press conference so he could tell TKO 'I told you so', and he was visibly upset that the crowd was shitting on him. He then tried to bury Cody and Seth and it didn't work, then got a pin over Cody and rock bottom on Cena, then tried to turn face and expose the whole business by being onscreen irl friends with Cody, then he fucked up Cena's heel run and WM41 and ran away hoping for an Oscar to change his image and unKWAB everything

Imagine missing out on Rock being exposed as not being able to do a match anymore, potentialolly getting injured during it, and Roman being exposed two years earlier than he is now all while an absolute dogshit match plays out for forty minutes of walkin' 'n' talkin' with an aftermath that ruins all big storylines regardless of the winner and destroys all goodwill the company earned and the only option is to have Cody beat whoever won next year after the business has already cooled down and Dwayne takes his ball and goes home before it can happen.
