We went from a few years ago having WrestleCon, WWN, GCW and ROH as their own entities doing competing shows to GCW running everything, WWN not existing and ROH being AEW lite. WrestleMania weekend has been monopolized.

WrestleCon lost its appeal to me when they changed the mystery tag match that used to be these weird ass assortment of international and American indie stars like Tanahashi into just mystery Mexican tag matches. Suddenly it was just 10 Mexicans I had never heard of and would never hear of again after. I have no memory, the name of literally any of them the last two years.

GCW runs their shows like total shit. They bring in TJPW and only give the wrestlers basically enough time to fly in, do their show and leave. They got outpromoted by a Japanese-Texan oil baron and a guy who runs a soil company.

I can’t wait until WWE starts pushing their weight around when selecting sites for WrestleMania and forces these cities to not have competing events that weekend. Want to see some people going apeshit and broke? TKO will absolutely do this at some point.

There were 3-4 shows on at a time during this year's Mania Weekend. Some of those shows did not draw well and looked like big money losers. Even GCW only draws a few hundred people for the majority of those daytime Mania Weekend shows. Indy wrestling just isn't popular enough to support all that.
