The fact is, we don't know what the ledger numbers for any of these companies actually looks like. It's kind of why I don't put a whole lot of stock in this console war logic of these "look how empty the arena is!" arguments.
For all we know, he might have gotten the attendance he expected and just got a good deal on the venue for that day when he might have otherwise preferred a smaller one. Only he knows how his business is doing.

The purpose of having Iyo there was to get eyes on matches like Yuzuki vs Sakurai and Utami vs Aono, as well as on some of the lower card performers. It certainly wasn't a matter of establishing Mayu, who absolutely doesn't need it on the Japanese wrestling scene.
Again, it was one of the biggest shows they've had (the largest? I don't know, I don't follow attendance figures because I really just prefer to watch what's happening in the ring). That's quite a bit of exposure. He might have been willing to take the L in terms of money just to increase the exposure. Sometimes you take a loss to increase future business. Running a business is a marathon not a sprint.
