I have been told by a trustworthy source inside WWE that Sting will be John Cena’s final opponent!

The decision was made recently, and was a toss up between Joe Hendry, Tanahashi, and Sting. I was told Joe wasn’t a big enough name and Tanahashi, despite being a major name in Japanese wrestling and long time dream opponent, was seen as too “broken down”. Sting has recently done a physical with the WWE and has been seen as perfectly capable.

Reportedly there was mutual interest in a return with the new regime, and with Sting being told this match will be the “proper send off” for a legend of his caliber. John Cena reportedly lobbied hard for Sting, as he was a long time fan and felt troubled by the way the WWE treated him in big matches.
