It makes no sense to win a belt rather than a trophy for a tournament. You can't (or at least shouldn't) compete in matches to win the trophy once it's won. You can only win a trophy by completing a tournament. The whole reason for belts is that they can be worn and carried around easily, trading hands easily. Unlike a trophy which is meant for display.
