i always had this idea of a show based around saying which competitors will be present but not announcing who will face who, each match is announced live through a (worked) roulette system. I think there's a lot of potential for storytelling there, and of course some yummy wummy surprises. I think NXTNAAA should try this.

Swerve didn't debut in AEW until like a year after the other guys you mentioned. He was still Isaiah Scott in NXT. I remember because I was watching it at the time.
You're right that there was another ex-WWE debut on that PPV though. I had to look it up but it was Ruby Soho

I kind of like this idea of random matchups using a wheel or something, but I would like to see a promoter do it right and actually make it random. This would force a lot of on-the-fly storytelling but a creative booker could maybe pull it off.
