>>19302672>>19303069It wasn't that he stopped rapping as such. From what I remember of the time, the turning point was when he introduced the spinner belt after winning the US title. He wasn't over as a face initially, slowly got over with the Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick as a heel, then turned face. It started becoming obvious he was going to get a Hogan push, then the belt was changed and looked like a toy and that's when he almost immediately stopped being cool at least to the more online fans. I remember Carlito was over with them almost immediately because he took the belt from Cena. Once he came back from filming The Marine, it became gradual thing until the switch to Raw. Jericho and Christian were both over and basically anyone who wasn't a Little Jimmy started getting sick of the Hogan booking. The smarks were especially loud about it which filtered out to the rest of the crowd.
So it was a more gradual thing until the Christian/Jericho feud which was when it boiled over. Christian in spring/summer 2005 was one of the most over guys in the company and IIRC was the top merch seller for a bit. Jobbing him out to Cena pissed off a significant portion of the crowd. Punk vs. Cena in 2011 was basically the sequel to that except the guy the fans wanted to win won.
