Maybe like 5 active wrestlers can still draw a crowd on their name alone (Lesnar, Punk, Cena, Reigns... okay maybe just four). Most of the main roster are completely replaceable nobodies gassed up by the WWE hype machine. The crowds may eat it up, but they don't actually care and they will move on to the next hyped wrestler. But Cardona/Ryder has charisma, he can talk, he has a good look, and he can work. May as well give him a chance before he's too old to go. Let's not forget that at one point Ryder was able to get himself over in a big way. That's why he ended up getting cut: jealousy for daring to get himself over when he wasn't supposed to.
