>>19382396When Vinnie Vegas made his WCW debut at Clash of the
Champions XVIII on January 21 in Topeka, Kansas, he
immediately forced the sport's powers-that-be to take notice.
Carrying 300 pounds on an awe-inspiring seven-foot frame,
the Nevada native made quick work of skilled veteran Thom-
as Rich, pinning him in under a minute after a crunching
face drop into the top turnbuckle that he calls the "snake
eyes." In the days that followed, Vegas demonstrated his
considerable talents in singles and tag team competition.
Aside from impressing his foes in the ring, he infuriated
them with an incredibly arrogant attitude. That was all right
with Harley Race, though, who signed Vegas to a six-figure
contract and promised the world he would sculpt the new-
comer into a champion. As press time, Race was deciding
whether to maintain Vegas as a singles grappler or team him
up with a permanent partner and send them after a tag team
championship. Meanwhile, WCW Magazine's reported an apparent
incident involving Vinnie being raped in a dark ally behind
the arena after a dark match, causing Race to throw out Vinnie's
contract sighting "How can anyone get behind a champion that cant
handle himself out of the ring and has a weak knee and a blown out
asshole"!
