I'm not saying Japanese pro-wrestling is a SERIOUS sport. But it's treated like more of a sport than what we see in the WWE. Sure, it's a sport where people might throw invisible shurikans or fights mascots or have dance offs in the middle of a match or build entire gimmicks around avoiding wrestling. But I guess what I meant to get at is the narrative-driven stuff is a lot lighter - you don't have huge promo segments, backstage stuff is skippable and not part of shows, and a cult angle seems like it would lean into the sports entertainment side of things more than is normal. And "silly" stuff is usually kept to the midcards. This person's comment put it better than I did
