I think they see him as a cool novelty. Since Euros mostly encounter recent migrant communities, I take it they aren't usually exposed to chill assimilated black guys from middle-class families who were born in their country, speak the language fluently, and served honorably in the military. They also seem to love Bobby Lashley.
