Issues and usually it’s not even a draw it’s some fucking channel changer filler like Scott Hall’s drug addict and firing angle. Katie Vick was stupid, but funny jokes and unfunny jokes come from the same place. There’s much more egregious shit that rant funny and barely fictional.

sure. the problem with this angle is triple nose. the guy just isnt any good on the mic. there were some wrestlers that could get anything over and would have done a far better job in this position. triple nose used to start raws with 20 or 30 minute promos and drove 1,000s of fans away

I’m not saying you can’t like it or you’re wrong. I’m just generally saying I find it worse to use real life stuff like that trying to make some money or get eyes on the product on the back of someone’s legit hard time. Seems worse to me than made up Katie Vick, made up Kane and Triple H humping a mannequin. Scott Hall with hard coming out of his mouth on TV was gross and probably didn’t look that much different than how he died on the floor with a shattered hip reaching for a gallon jug of Vodka Koolaid punch.

What about the Edge/Lita/Matt Hardy love triangle? They couldn't keep their personal lives out of their professional ones and so the company managed to capitalize on it both by making money of the controversy and punishing them for bringing their dirty laundry to the forefront by forcing them to make money.

Matt Hardy got a lot of grassroots support online and he called in to an online thing to bitch at Edge who was with Lita. He was also calling into their official radio show and stuff angry as shit.
Also, he was fired first. WWE didn't try to capitalise on it until it was getting ugly.
All this said, yeah that feud was fucking golden and made Edge in a way that previously hadn't. A good example that negative situations can be worked into wrestling yeah.

You're overthinking it. Kane didn't wear the mask when he was younger iirc but had a horrible disfigurement. Trips wearing the Kane mask was just to illustrate, crudely, that he was mimicking Kane.

A lot of them did, I probably shouldn't have wasted energy baiting but I think the actual answer is that 30 minute show opening promos are just a WWE thing in general. I remember in 2014 the Authority would just come out half the time and 'work' the fans before anything happened.

yes. i mentioned this the other day on here but ill say it again when the undertaker tried to embalm steve austin. totally awful. nobody believed the undertaker was going to do this not even for a second thats what made it so bad. it was embarrassing to watch such a stupid thing occur and being treated seriously by the wrestlers and announcers
