its not really that uncommon in WWE to have lifelong midcarders to get a main event push for a few months post attitude era, JBL, Benoit, Mysterio, Booker , Kofi, Big E, all had that one time world champ reigns before settling back in the mid card after, its WWE experimenting with how certain talent would perform under the main event spotlight
