Former Intercontinental Champion officially confirms he's never coming back to WWE

History has it that anyone who has ever left WWE on bad terms eventually mends fences. A former Intercontinental Champion recently revealed that he made peace with the Stamford-based promotion, but has no desire to return to his old stomping grounds.

Ryback hasn't laced up his wrestling boots in over seven years. The Big Guy last wrestled for WWE in 2016, following which he entered into a trademark battle with the company over his ring name.

Despite a legal victory, the 44-year-old wrestler didn't return to wrestling and has since been recovering from a myriad of injuries. A few days ago, Ryback took to his Instagram handle to share an old photo of himself. In the caption, he reiterated his decision to walk away from the wrestling business.

The former Nexus member detailed life-threatening injuries that forced him to quit wrestling.

>"A botched ankle surgery during Nexus caused permanent nerve damage in my left leg and peroneal nerve. That injury led to five discs in my back rapidly degenerating throughout my Ryback run. My right shoulder was wrecked from cortisone injections I was told were safe — they ate away the cartilage and created massive scar tissue. Doctors told me that if I stayed on that schedule for six more months, I’d likely need a five-disc fusion and a shoulder replacement, losing any chance at a normal physical life. So I walked away to save my life. That’s the truth."

>"I’ve made peace with WWE. I’m not blackballed — I simply have no intention of returning. I won’t wrestle again unless I can perform at the level I expect, and my health comes first. If I never wrestle again, this journey has still given me my life back. Wrestlers die younger than any other profession. Getting my health back is the greatest blessing."
