The only reason I live in Chelsea is my rent for a two-bedroom is the same that most pay for a studio anywhere else. I'm friendly with some business owners here, but like you are saying, there is not even an attempt at English, if anything they get upset with you for not speaking in broken Spanish with them. Thanks for saying that, honestly. I am a white guy and I feel like I am living in a nightmare, no one even believe me when I tell them how bad it is and the media actively covers it up. I have had construction outside of my apartment for a full calendar year, heavy machinery just sitting outside my window that starts at 6am and ends at 6pm. Food from El Salvador is below slop. If you order a chicken soup they will give you fried dark meat chicken and a flavorless vegetable soup. Everything is fried or in a generic broth. If they grill something it's burnt to shit and held together with glue. If you got to Burger King or Five Guys or McDonald's it's all grown adult Hispanic people working there, some of them elderly.
