>>19457370WWE and NBCUniversal reached a multi-year deal that shifted Saturday Night’s Main Event from being a network broadcast event to a Peacock exclusive streaming special in the U.S. beginning in late 2025. Under this agreement, SNME will stream only on Peacock (not live on NBC) as part of a set of quarterly primetime specials.
That means the Dec. 13, 2025 show - headlined by John Cena’s final WWE match - is not being shown on NBC because Peacock has exclusive live rights in the U.S. for this series.
What Changed Compared to the Old Tradition
Historically, Saturday Night’s Main Event was a network TV staple on NBC from 1985 through the early ’90s - that’s where most fans know it from.
WWE revived the brand periodically over the years. In 2024 and early 2025, some specials did air on NBC (often simulcast on Peacock).
But in August 2025, WWE and NBCUniversal announced that SNME would move off linear NBC and become exclusive to Peacock as part of the streaming emphasis.
So Where Can You Watch It?
In the United States: SNME streams live on Peacock.
Internationally: In some regions, WWE will make the show available through partner feeds - including YouTube streams or regional broadcast partners.
Why WWE Did This
This shift reflects broader industry trends:
WWE has been restructuring its media deals - Raw moved to Netflix earlier in 2025, SmackDown airs on USA Network, and other specials tie into ESPN deals.
Peacock likely paid for exclusive rights to SNME because streaming is a key part of NBCUniversal’s strategy.
So even though SNME has a long history on traditional broadcast TV, the Dec. 13, 2025 edition is rooted in streaming rights and exclusivity deals, not declining popularity on broadcast channels.
