He actually never did, that's his only singles title on record. Which is incredible to think about considering he was at the tail end of his career then and was a big draw in more different corners of the world than pretty much everyone else who wrestled before the internet existed

i looked at the list of WWE champions, the only ones with 1 day reigns are kane and rey (who were both world champs with the heavyweight belt, and kane's ECW championship which seems to have been posthumously demoted from world title status after its deactivation) and andre who was only ever world champ in some french shindie besides his one day WWF title reign

andre didn't really need a belt and vince sr. used him as a bargaining chip whenever he wanted to poach somebody from other promotions so it kind of makes sense why they wouldn't put the belt on him.
