The second prequel still had some slow shit but picked up by the end, it was mainly just the anakin and padme romance that sucked so very hard and caught all the flak.
3rd one picked up in the action and tied stuff together, but had some pretty cringe moments and the emotional punch of some stuff missed (other stuff hit perfect, like obiwan v anakin). But it was still meh cause there were no stakes. We all knew the score.
When all was said and done there wasn't hate, people recognised Lucas needed a tard wrangler and that the prequels still didn't peak empire strikes back, maybe reached a new hope level of appreciation. But not hated, not like the sequels.
Only people who liked the sequels were contrarians taking criticisms of a shit movie as criticisms of their politics who tried to gaslight peoples dislike as because of the politics and not because the movies were dogwater and pissed on SW legacy.
