If you were really going to have Cena lose here Gunther should have been desperate to get the submission all match, and finally have to give up, hit him with a big move, and roll him up then leave with a boo boo face on.

I'm a boomer so I never really liked him and feel like he was the face of the era when wrestling became irredemable dogshit. It's not all on him of course and by most accounts he isn't a terrible person and worked hard. Like I can't blame him for taking the role that was put before him and he did his best. But Cena and Roman couldn't hold a candle to guys that weren't even the top guys who came before them. Yet they often get held in the same regard.

Whoever beats gunther is going to have the same problem guys like roman and seth had going over brock after he beat taker.
